Who owns KSID radio?

Publisher's Note: Several people have commented since this post, that Ibs doesn't really have anything to do with the day to day operations for KSID radio. That is beside the point. As the owner, Mrs. Young benefits from advertising revenues garnered from the profits of a media enterprise. The point I was making, was to simply illustrate Mrs. Young's propensity to use letters to the editor in a different venue, and that the nature of her letter was to characterize some unnamed individual in a manner she chose not to use on the station's website. The tone of her message was not in keeping with her standing in the community, no matter how right she may have been to criticize the use of an anonymous letter (which I agree with her on that premise).

This post is only here to clarify some email I have received from someone who identified himself as Cliff  Vanders.  I post my response here for everyone's benefit to avoid future confusion.

A couple people have told me that Elizabeth Young was no longer the owner of the radio station known as KSID. They have said that I shouldn't be including the radio station in my comments in my responses to Ibs Young's lambasting of the so-called "Sidney Citizen."

Looking at the ownership information maintained by the FCC, a license renewal application from 2007 shows the station owner to be Elizabeth Young with a PO box located here in Sidney. The document continues to be filed every 2 years. Since this is a public record, it should be sufficient to put that question to rest.

  1. Um wow cool.. cuz this is so relevant to your posts and this entire blog.. Why aren't you giving Vanvleet the riot act for his letter to the editor? It was almost identical to the 4th page of your anonymous letter. Or better yet, why don't you say "Convert a Ball owner Bob Vanvleet said "X" in his letter to the editor and accused the Young Family Dynasty.. because you don't do both sides either." Bob didn't sign his letter to the editor "Bob Vanvleet- Convertaball, Hooter Industries, Endurance Flag" and Mrs Young didn't sign hers with KSID. Who cares.. get back to the point will ya??

  2. So it's a locally owned company. That's great. Has absolutely nothing to do with the entire situation that we are in now does it?

  3. I thought this was a place for debate and conversation? You apparently are only interested in people who share your and Dave, Marve and Bobs opinions. By the looks of the surveys people apparently don't share your opinion. I've heard that Julie Young is spending hours and hours copying and studying things down at city hall. The girls are getting cramps writing receipts for all the copies she is getting.
What do we get from you? Who owns the frickin radio..big deal. Who can or can't post on your blog...big deal.
This is a worthless blog..I thought you said you were going to be a "real reporter" but you are full of hot stinky air just like the three councilmen.

  4. Mike, I think the problem people have with you saying that Ibs is KSID is that people know she has little or nothing to do with the day-to-day business of the station. Would you say that Convert-a-Ball took a certain stand because Bob Van Vleet did? Or that Fillsinger Excavation or White Bluff Clinic are tied to their owners in the same way?

  6. Said the daughter in law of the subject of the piece.

I didn't have a problem with taking on an anonymous poster, but it was the unnecessary characterization that accompanied it.

Mrs. Young is a citizen of long-standing high regard in this community. The manner in which she reached out, as well as the venue choice was not in keeping with her history in the town, in my opinion.

Others have expressed their opinion on the matter and that is the end of it. Taking pot shots and me, this blog or anyone else really isn't going to change anyone's opinion and this dog should be able to lie down and rest.
