Kudos to Sidney Housing Authority board...finally

While I am not sure the back and forth on this publication had anything to do with moving the ball on the issue, I am glad to hear that positive movement has been brought forward in the Sidney Housing Authority window replacement situation.

The Sidney Housing Authority finally took decisive action to remediate the damage from the recent hailstorm. The decision to split the project among local contractors in order to get the ball moving was a solid act of leadership.

Though I have outstanding personal reasons for my feelings regarding Tamara Nelsen, I must give her, as well as Dalan Hiett and Brad Craig, praise for doing the right thing by the residents.

  1. They are also talking with the Scottsbluff Housing to replace Craig, with discussions with Nelson, Hiett and Person to fix windows, but nothing else at Sioux Villa, until they can just tare it down. I live at Sioux villa and it would hurt alot of us if Pearson and his friends tare us down.

  2. Munson is leaving the board to. Didn't see that in our local paper or radio. Gaston and Person will get their way anyway. Nobody is asking why the good people are leaving. Craig has said he doesn't have any plans, just time for a change. Theres always a reason.

  3. Another plan to clean up Sidney. Nienhouser, Pearson, and Gaston have Hiett and Nelson on the board to get rid of the old board members and Brad Craig and Sioux Villa because they have been fixing the problem. Sioux Villa doesnt' meet the new beautiful standards in Sidney. Go look at the property, it is clean, things are fixed when we need repairs. We need to go to the housing meeting to let them know we count. Agree, Craig and Munson are leaving for a reason. There was only one reason to put some one like Nelson on that board. Sure wasn't her skill or knowledge. She is a FOG puppet. Plain and simple. The board got attacked last year by Rauner (FOG) and Gaston (FOG) because they were spending money on SIoux villa instead of leaving the money in the bank. Our fed government is not the only government problem we have.

  5. What evidence is there to support your claim. Seems to me that Brad Craig or Munson leaving the board due to pressure should be explained as such, except and unless it would threaten continued employment or business with the city. I believe that Brad used to be my neighbor on Jackson Street and I seem to remember he did work for the city. If he were pressured off the board so it could be privatized and Sioux Villa and or other properties could be sold (with a truckload of caveats for renovation or destruction) would be an interesting take. I certainly would like to know any information on any such schemes.

I have said it before, there isn't much thought of or done for those on the north side of town, unless someone starts acting like the squeaky wheel. Just look at the road repair work. Most all of it is in a very concentrated area.

  6. I think the structure of the housing board is that Brad is the director, not a board member. When he leaves and then if Munson is leaving at the end of his term in October, then mayor Gaston then appoints the next board member, which gives Person and Gaston the 3 votes on the board to once again control the housing authority. 3 votes on the council and 3 votes on the housing board, they are in control again. Had it not been for the board being seperated from the council in 2005 and new management, we would not have new windows at Sioux Villa nor would we have a clean and safe neighborhood. I pray we don't loose that. When the city had total control, it was neglicted and the money was being saved for who knows what.
