Distance makes the skin grow thicker

While commenting about the need to get moving on improving the conditions for those living at Sioux Villa after the hailstorm devastated many of the windows, it caused a great deal of input from some people who might not like to be accountable. True to form, the friends of Gary have launched into a defense and like Obama, are spending a tremendous amount of time blaming Marv Filsinger for failing to act in the past.

Yes, Marv served on the Housing Authority for years and as a member he shared in the failings that body had to properly maintain the complex. I do not know whether monies were asked for to remediate the problems there that are now apparent from insurance reviews, but I think reasonable people would agree that it should not be run like a slum.

All people who served and did nothing (as in written in the record) to ensure that the property is preserved to a minimum habitable standard, including Marv Filsinger, Brad Craig and even Tamara Nelsen have a share in the blame, to a greater or lesser degree based on their time of service.

Blaming people isn't going to get it done at this point. Defending those you like or tearing at someone who is legitimately bothered by the human impact the delay to action is causing is likewise the act of cowards. I am not worried about petty personal attacks for addressing these concerns, and frankly those who are attacking behind the cloak of anonymity have more to worry about.

Thank you so much for all of your comments and I hope the fervor with which they were fired off yesterday will translate into a positive outcome for the people of Sioux Villa.

I will keep on truckin' as the saying goes. You can either ride along or get the hell out of the way.
