ReplyDeleteAs a father, I just want to wish Jim and Cristy Hansel strength and support through this difficult time. This is one of those rare things that parents never want to have to deal with.
Best wishes Hansel family.
Tim
Mr. & Mrs. Hansel,
ReplyDeleteBe there for him and love him, that's all you can do.
Sincerely,
Kelly (a mom)
Thanks Mike, Tim and Kelly for all your support. Cristy and I are strong folks (though life is hurting right now)and would ask for prayers for the other families directly effected by this tradgedy; for the people who have such anger and hatred stirring within them toward Todd, Us, and Sidney; and for Todd to get the help/resources he needs (he was truly doing pretty good on parole here in Sidney until this unexplained event).
ReplyDeleteWe appreciate the many folks who have offered up prayers and support, and fully understand the emotions many are feeling toward our son and the event he caused. To those who know us, they will attest that we don't throw stones at other people's glass houses because as you all know by now...we have understood for many many years that "life happens." It's strange how you can wake up one day with life running along at a normal pace, and by bedtime that same day your plans and direction are upside-down and life suddenly has a new look to it: one you could have never imagined could happen to you or your family.
Parents hurt when bad things happen which effect their children..or when their children effect bad things to happen to themselves or others.
Here is an analogy: When a water pipe breaks in our house, we shut off the water source and try to figure out what caused the problem and then try to fix it and clean up the damage it caused.
We have no idea what caused Todd to react as he did that night with Daisy, but he is back with us now (stopping the leak), and we are all looking into finding help through counseling and anger management (find what caused the problem), and then try to help those effected within the community heal (Todd is part of our community too)...and draw awareness to the problem and solutions to help stop others from hurting their pets (fix the leak).
Thanks again for the words of encouragement each of you and many folks in Sidney has expressed to us, and for Mike Rowland stepping out to redirect the discussion back to the issue at hand in the SunTelegraph thread...Mike, you're a good friend. God bless. -jim
