The library ended the 2008-2009 fiscal year $30.55 under budget.
Currently 30.5% of the fiscal year has elapsed; the library’s expenditures are at 30.5%.
8681 patrons in Sidney and Cheyenne County have library cards.
The library has 50,639 items available for patron loan.
The library subscribes to 15 newspapers and 109 magazines.
2602 books were purchased in the last year.
2230 books were removed from circulation.
Circulation of materials was 98,082 items.
64,165 patrons visited the library and 12,123 accessed the internet.
128 items were requested through Interlibrary Loan and 287 items were loaned to other libraries.
The library has 13 internet computers for public use.
The library is set-up for wireless internet usage.
There are 25 electronic databases that can be accessed from the library web site.
The library is open 69 hours a week in the winter and 62 hours a week in the summer for a total of 3497 hours a year.
The library held 206 children’s programs and 49 adult programs for a total of 2464 people in attendance.
The full-time staff has met all the requirements for the Nebraska Library Commission’s Public Librarian Certification Program.
The library is accredited at the excellent level and is accredited through September 2010. By having the excellent level of accreditation the library is eligible for more state aid. $3406 was received in 2009.
The Library Board is certified with all the required hours till August 2010.
There are 54,010 miles on the 1995 bookmobile; around 653 patrons are served per month.
$8764 in grant money was received. The money was used for books and help on window replacement.
Friends of the Library are starting their fourth year. They help promote the library. They have funded the children’s summer reading program for two years and plan to do so in 2010.
