Big Nasty HR, Inc., is at it again.
A female employee at Big Nasty made a complaint to her Boss', boss' boss, a director. She did this after complaining about the boss' boss who made disparaging remarks about her in a meeting among several departments, all of whom reported to boss' boss, whom we will call Manure.
The female worker went to HR to complain about the remarks made, which adversely affected her and were patently unwarranted. Our HR Representative, whom we will call Box of Rox, of Big Nasty HR, Inc. actually asked the female worker if she thought about leaving the company for her health's sake, stating that, "sometimes you have to think about your health before your job."
Seeing no effective gain from her interaction with Big Nasty HR, Inc., our female worker went to the immediate supervisor of the manger who disparaged her, in this case a department director. She was surprised by the quick response of the director, who assured her he would investigate the matter and get back with her by Wednesday, next week.
Thinking the matter was being investigated, the female worker inquired from Big Nasty HR, Inc., as to the status after finding out that Dumb as a Rox had been talking to people in attendance. Dumb as a Rox told the female worker that she talked to everyone in the meeting, but eventually admitted that she only talked to a couple of the people.
What comes out next should scare the hell out of female workers at Big Nasty. Dumb as a Rox told the female worker that she was just as wrong as Manure was because she kept asking questions and said she was too pushy. The female insisted that the only reason she was asking questions was because she kept getting blank stares from the man in the middle as well as Manure. Here is also something interesting. The man in the middle was wearing a shirt touting his improvement in employee engagement survey results, when in reality, he fired one person who complained about his management, is under investigation by the EEOC on the state and federal level for age and sex discrimination, had three new employees with less than six months seniority due to exceptionally high employee turnover, and bribed three others with promotions in order to get his scores up. But I digress...
The female, just like another predecessor, feels that the environment is toxic and hostile to females. The man in the middle confronted the newest victim and told her that she didn't seem to be very happy here (at Big Nasty). She mentioned that the only thing that made her unhappy was Manure. The man in the middle told her in reply that their workplace was a, "brutal environment," and she shouldn't let it bother her.
The elatively new CEO can find a way to permeate the clear direction and understanding that conduct by the Man in the Middle, Little Napoleon, Manure and Dumb as Rox are perpetuating stagnation rather than the change necessary to build an engaged workforce, Big Nasty will be just that... Nasty.
